Used to be called Knockdhu, but changed its name to be distinct from the Knocando distillery up the
road. The original distillery was setup in 1893 after John Morrison
bought the Knock estate the year before and realised he had a number
of great water sources. The distillery was built and takes its water from Knock Hill and used local
barley. It was fitted out with new equipment in 1928 after a fire in the milling room. It survived the recessions in the 1920's and 1930's when it was forced to close, and managed to re-open again after World War II. It closed again in 1983 but Inverhouse resumed the production in 1989, and released the new single malt under the An Cnoc label in 1994. |
The 12 year old product is very smoky with a sweet flavour. |
