This
is one of the more individual Speyside malts, it is unashamedly
peaty and full bodied. This
is due to its history, it was first established in 1878 by William Grant.
Then it was bought in1887 by the Islay Distillery Company before
becoming part of the Highland Distillery Company. It survived a major fire that all but destroyed the distillery in 1922 and went on to be extended in 1963 to 6 stills. Success continued and it was again extended in 1980 to 10 stills. The distillery is now like many a mixture of modern 60's buildings and older Victorian structures. |

The distilleries own produce is a 12 year old which is aromatic and slightly spicy. This malt knows what it is and is worth several drams. |
