The distillery dates to 1897
in Dufftown, but the owners
care not for tradition now. It was bought by DCL in 1926 but managed to
survive the cull of the 20's. SMD took over in 1930 and continued successfully through renovation in 1962, and extended to buildings in 1972 by building a new distillery alongside the original. In 1985 the old production facility was mothballed and production continued in the new plant. |

A pale malt which is light on the tongue with a dryness and some peaty vibes, even at 8 years its OK. There are older bottling around which seem better, some from the pre 1972 still are worth finding, the 72-80 period is a mixture of old and new. |
