One
of the best Speyside malts, the classic smoky flavour. This is the single malt that started me
actually collecting, I already had a Glenfiddich, but I was bought this as a leaving present and
I've never looked back - Glenlivet is that good. Glenlivet was one of the first to distil legally under the 1823 reforming excise act, such that the founder George Smith had to carry pistols for protection from the smugglers. His whisky became so popular that many others tried to use the name 'Glenlivet', so it took a legal settlement to protect the name, others only being able to use it in hyphenated form, something that endures to today. |

The 12 year old is smooth and smoky whilst the 18 year old is superb, there is also a 21 year old to find. |
