The original distillery was built on the site alongside a priory, which
although no longer connected with the distillery, still appears on some of
the labels.The distillery was built in 1824 just down the road from Elgin and ran for over a hundred years before being refurbished in the 1930's. The priory too has also been rebuilt.
The
distillery produces a cumber of malts, the most common being named after the
distillery although some independent bottlers also offer a number of decent
vintages. They also produced a single called Mosstowie after a village a
mile from the distillery, which is no longer in production as the Lomond
still has been decommissioned.
