This one is actually rather nice, yes I can't believe I'm saying
that about a supermarket brand, but to be honest its really just a
20 year old Speyside Malt served up as Royal Elgin by Sainsburies. Its cheap,
its sweet and full bodied with a nice smoky finish, and it comes in a pretty box. What more do you
want.
For those of you who don't know Sainsburies - its a big characterless supermarket chain in the
UK who I would have expected to sell a characterless malt, but clearly
they have nothing to do with the production.
If you don't want to shell
out for one of the more expensive established brands, try it, it's good
place to start if you haven't tried single malts. |
